How we check businesses

What Verified business means, and the other words you may see.

Verified business means a person at Lerabase checked the business papers and the EIN. The papers are linked to an Owner who passed the ID check.

Here is how a business gets there:

1. The business adds its papers in Business verification.

2. A person at Lerabase reads them and checks them against the EIN evidence.

3. The papers must be tied to an Owner who passed the ID check.

4. We tell the Owner the result on the business page and in Notices.

Other words you may see on a business:

Not claimed. Nobody has taken charge of this Services page yet.

Certificate on file: (name), through (date). A person checked that named paper, and it is good through that date.

Self-reported. The business wrote this fact. Every other fact on a page is self-reported. The person or business wrote it, and Lerabase did not prove it.

Verified business is not a promise about the business. Lerabase does not certify job skills. It does not prove who legally owns a business or that it has insurance. It does not say if a worker is an employee or a contractor. It does not say if anyone follows the rules.

Lerabase never gets a person's background report, driving record, drug test, or Clearinghouse result. We do not read, score, or keep one.

A business page shows no word when nothing was checked. We never guess.

If a business page looks wrong or fake, use Report on that page.
